Spiritual Healing

Listen now Read now

Many of Jesus’s miracles consisted in healing the sick. But in the grand scheme of things He was only able to heal a tiny fraction of the people who have suffered, constrained to a relatively small geographic area of the world. So why did Jesus spend so much time healing people? As with all His miracles, it represents something about who God is: He is always able and willing to heal, but in our case to heal us spiritually. We’ll look at how three of Jesus’s healing miracles show us that God can heal us when nothing else has worked, when we think we are beyond help, and when we don’t think we even deserve to be healed.

The New Creation, Part 1: Laying the Groundwork

The Word opens with the story of the Lord creating the Earth in seven days. The New Church says that we should not take this story literally: it is not about the literal creation of the universe; it is about the spiritual creation, or recreation, of each individual person.

To Be Part of a Whole

We talk of organizations as if they have a life of their own: "The company made some good decisions last year;" "The rugby team is making good progress." But of course, no organisation does anything apart from the individual choices of its members.

The Golden Calf

When Moses was up on Mt. Sinai getting the Ten Commandments, the people down below became impatient. They began to doubt that Moses would ever return or that the Lord would be with them.
