Community

Living a spiritual life is challenging in today's world. We are bombarded with messages that lead us away from what we know to be right. And even when we want to do what is right we may not know how to go about doing it. A church community can help you by offering support and guidance in moving along the path of happiness and usefulness.

Here's some of what we are striving for as a church community: We believe that the Lord is an abundant God who wants to shower us with blessings. He wants us to have deeply fulfilling and happy marriages. He gives us help in raising children to be safe, content, self-directed and responsible. He shows us how we can work to transform the negative, selfish emotions and thoughts that give us so much pain into constructive patterns of living and being. He shows us that the Bible can and should make sense and that all of it can be relevant to our daily lives.

If you are looking for a community that supports this way of thinking and living, we invite you to join us this Sunday for worship or contact us to talk more about the New Church.

Testimonials

"New Church Westville has wonderful teachings to support a great, lasting marriage..." - Jane and Mike Edmunds

New Church Westville has wonderful teachings to support a great, lasting marriage. And that is probably the best gift we can nurture in ourselves, each other and our children. We have only a limited time in which to pass values about marriage on to our children, and then it's up to them to make choices that will make all the difference to their quality of life. We are pleased that our children are brought up to treasure marriage as a gift from the Lord. - Jane and Mike Edmunds

"The difference with the New Church is that it uncovers a deeper understanding of the truth..." - Lance Mansfield

It seems to be universally accepted that God exists and that He loves us. However, most people still think of God as a mystery. The difference with the New Church is that it uncovers a deeper understanding of the truth. There are answers about the purpose of creation. There is a vision for the human race. You get to understand the nature of God and the universe. For me, there is no uncertainty. My only frustration is keeping up my end of the bargain. It gives me direction and purpose to work on that in my daily life. New Church Westville is my support system to get there. - Lance Mansfield

Raising children and maintaining a healthy family unit in this day and age is a real challenge. I rely on the New Church and its unique teachings for guidance and support in this awesome task. It's wonderful to spend time with people who have similar values and principles. I see the positive influence of the New Church on our family every day and consider ourselves very lucky to have such a powerful support structure in our lives. - Nerena Standage

As the wife of an advocate, the mother of four active kids, and as a professor, I lead a very busy life. The thing that works for us, is that we are adamant that Sunday is a day for church and for family. What could be more important? After all, it's family that you miss most when they're gone. And no one is going to wish then that they had spent that time at the office. - Tanya Woker

"I go to church because I come away each week with something useful to focus on..." - Pam Moodley

I don't go to church because it's good for me; I go to church because I come away each week with something useful to focus on. Especially when it comes to family values, it makes such a difference being with people who support the way we try to bring up our children. At New Church Westville, children are surrounded by good role models who have a positive influence on their lives. There is even a special part of the Sunday service for children, when they learn things we can reinforce with them during the week. What a bonus for any parent!

I've heard it said that your friends define who you are. When I look at the New Church friends I have around me, I'm happy about what they reflect about me. We'll have our ups and downs like everyone else, but at the end of the day, we'll always be there for each other. - Pam Moodley

Teen Testimonials

It's great to have a forum to talk about what's relevant to us. Sometimes as a teenager, you want to get each other's opinion on things. New Church Westville provides answers without being in your face.

Some of our peers have nothing to stop them doing things they're going to regret.

The New Church gives us something to fall back on. I don't have all the answers, but at least with a foundation in the New Church, I know I'm going somewhere.

New Church ideas are easy to understand, and to keep for the rest of your life.

You get loads of respect for sticking by what you believe.
